In case you haven’t heard, Flickr has teamed up with TechSoup to donate 10,000 1-year Flickr pro accounts to “qualifying” (registered in the US and Canada) non-profit organizations & good causes. The Movement, called “Flickr for Good“, is an opportunity for these people to share a glimpse of what they’re doing to make the world a better place.
I think this is really exciting. Some have already been using Flickr to spread their amazing images and this should help to really open the floodgates. Granted, the $24.95 for a Flickr pro account isn’t necessarily going to break the bank for a lot of organizations. But it is almost enough to feed one hungry child for a full year. I’d say it’s worth it.
If you’re an organization interested in the program, you can find out how to apply and if you qualify at TechSoup’s Flickr Donation Page.
